Low-rise closed quarters join high-rise residential towers, giving the complex an interesting rhythmic pattern
The international architecture firm RICARDO BOFILL TALLER DE ARQUITECTURA is the author of the architectural concept of the residential quarter "Sreda". Our company was responsible for developing work documentation and adjusting project documentation for the first and second construction phases. Working with foreign architects was a unique experience for us. We went beyond our ordinary work format and tried the role of "adapters".

A new residential quarter will be built as a result of the former industrial zone restructuring. An independent intercity center with its own excellent infrastructure will be located at its territory. The project consists of 20 apartment buildings of variable height with underground parking and a school for 825 students and a kindergarten for 300 children. One of the biggest Moscow traffic-transfer hubs, "Ryazansky" will be built close to the quarter in the nearest future. Landscape architecture, that is the main attraction not only of the quarter but also of the city district as a whole, is of particular importance in the project. The concept presumes the construction of the promenade park with shaded alleys, quiet squares, and picturesque boulevards, cherry and lilac gardens. The park will occupy the half of the construction site. Special attention is paid to the sport function in the park. Landscape improvement project contains specialized sport zones: tennis courts, mini-golf fields, children's playgrounds, running tracks and cycleways. The total landscape improvement territory is almost 9 hectares.
Public and business functions of the quarter are represented not only by the ground floors, but also by the large business center, that will separate the residential part of the quarter from Ryzansky avenue and serve as a noise isolating screen. Non-residential premises on ground floors are designated for stores, banks and offices. Thanks to capacious underground parking, the inner courtyards are safe and carless. Closed inner-quarter spaces, panoramic and large-sized windows, natural colour schemes with warm shades used in the facades and public areas decoration makes the atmosphere very attractive for comfortable living.
